Saving For A Sunny Future with SunTrust

When I think about saving for a Sunny Day the first thing that pops into my head is saving for a rainy day. But why does saving up have to be only done compared to something negative? Why not start saving for something that can make you smile, like a new home! My husband and I have recently signed another one year lease agreement with our landlord. As grateful as we are to have another place to live for another year, we are working on saving to move into a larger townhouse, possibly even a house.
When I first thought about saving up for a new home there were so many questions that came into my mind:
How much can we afford when it comes to our budget?
What will mortgage payment be if we choose to buy?
What is my credit score?
What is required for a mortgage?
Will we be approved for a mortgage?
How much do we have to put down upfront?
Should we consider purchasing something that requires extra renovating in order for it to be our "perfect home"?
Should we consider something that isn't close to our jobs?
Now I know that saving up for a house can sound a bit daunting, but it truly helps when you have some information to guide you in the right direction like SunTrust's Resource Center for Owning a Home! Here you can find financial tips, tips on selling a home and even a Monitor and Manage section where you can teach the kids how to start saving money for themselves. One of my favorite things on the website is The Top 20 Most Confusing Mortgage Terms Defined because who doesn't want to feel prepared before signing a contract!
